Sourcing
Why from China?
Various species of magnolia trees are found scattered across South Asia, the Pacific region, and North America. However, due to its especially fragrant, enchanting aroma, doTERRA chose the essential oil sourced from trees growing in southern China.
How It Works
Magnolia trees were once truly enormous. Therefore, growers harvesting the flowers used to only be able to reach and collect magnolia flowers from scaffolding built around the trees. Through cultivation, the trees were eventually dwarfed over time to make flower picking easier. The trees first begin to grow in huge wooden or ceramic containers.
The essential oil is extracted from the flower of the magnolia tree. The flowers are hand-picked, then spread out to dry for a few hours before distillation. Magnolia flowers are harvested twice a year: once in summer, and again in late autumn or early winter.
